Darkness Preserve

Setting aside land to preserve endangered animals is familiar. But in Alberta’s Elk Island National Park they have set aside 300 sq Km for the preservation of… darkness. Why ban bright lights and other darkness “predators”? Try star-gazing at the Beaver Hills dark Sky Preserve and you’ll see. It’s an unforgettable experience.
